The first part of the process is to create the reclaimed wood frame. I use old fence the would end buying up being burned or dumped in the garbage and transform it into a frame for the screen art.
When I paint each window screen I start with an impasto paste to create the thick layers.Impasto is a technique used in painting, where paint or impasto paste mixed with paint is applied to the area or the surface of the screen in very thick layers. , I like people to be able to see the brush strokes or pallet-knife strokes are visible. Paint can also be mixed right on the screen. When dry, impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas.
Screen painting is painting on window screens. It is a folk art form originating in immigrant working-class neighborhoods in Baltimore, Maryland, in the early 20th century. The wire screen section of a screen door is typically painted with a landscape, still life, or other subjects of interest. I paint many flowers including sunflowers and pumpkins.
