Hand painted on laid paper with beautiful color; illustrated here is the Buck Horned Beetle & the Long Sleeved Long-Horned Beetle

This beetle is found in several parts of South America outside of Suriname, where its larva, which lives in the dim wood of the cheese tree (bombax ceiba), is eaten as a large treat.
The body is striped black and brown. the breastplate is provided with several spikes. on the head sits the strong, outstanding set which gave this beetle its name because of its resemblance to a deer antler. in the way of life it resembles the previous one.
