Product code: Denim with Pink Heart Buttons buying Handwoven Table Runner 13" x 30"

Upcycling denim is always worth the effort, the end result never disappoints. This runner was hand-woven from a large unloved piece of denim rescued from a thrift store - it was embroidered occasionally in bright pink, green, and turquoise, and had pink heart buttons sew on. I wove it so all of the buttons are on one side, scattered randomly across the top of the runner.

WARP: Cotton warping thread in blue, terra cotta and white stonewash.

FINISH: End warp and hand-tied fringe, double twisted and knotted. Wet-finished and air-dried.

CARE: The table runner is reversible, (although all of the buttons are on one side), hand washable, and should be laid flat to dry.

READY TO SHIP: the rug in the photograph is the actual rug you receive when purchased.

DIMENSIONS: 13" x 30" plus fringe, 1/4" thick

I began making handmade rag rugs as a way to use up leftover and unloved fabric. As I studied rug making, it became a way to learn and preserve an art developed by frontier women who made-do by repurposing clothes, linens and curtains. I respect the artistry and talent of those rural women who lived a hard, duty-filled life and yet saw and created beauty every day. I aspire to their skill and values using the same patchwork style and traditional techniques.

Rag Rug Materials: the wool, denim and buying cotton used in my rugs is repurposed or rescued from unloved pile in fabric shops, stashes from estates, thrift shops, and auctions, and pieces purchased by crafters in enthusiasm and never finished.

About the Studio at Red Top Ranch: Red Top Ranch is the southwestern Nebraska home of a rural family, 3 rescued dogs (who are not allowed in the Studio) and one fiber artist. At the heart of the Studio is a love of nature, outdoors, farmhouses, and the West. Created by hand, one project at a time, combining natural materials with good design for beauty, durability, and individuality.
