Product code: Crepe Paper Prayer Lily (Lilium Candidum) -- buying 1 Stem

*SYMBOLISM/POSSIBLE MEANINGS: Purity, Remembrance, Hope

*FOLKLORE: Medieval images of the Blessed Virgin Mary very often show her holding Lilium candidum; hence the name "Madonna Lily." In King Solomon's Temple there were images of Lilium candidum on the columns and also upon the laver.

DESCRIPTION: The Prayer Lily is also known as the Madonna Lily or the Easter Lily. While these lilies sometimes decorate our dining room tables during the Easter holiday, the same lily is often delivered to funeral and graveside services. I've had clients order a single stem that I wrap in white gauze and decorate with white liquid pearl beads. This stem is then given by my client(s) to a bereaved family member or friend. I find that no matter buying your faith (Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Christine, Muslim, other religions, atheist or agnostic), the Prayer Lily is a gentle conveyance of comfort and hope for a grieving loved one. As I make these lilies, I keep in mind the occasion and attempt to craft into the petals my own hope for light and peace to reach the recipient. The process involved to make a prayer lily includes cutting 10 petal pieces from double-sided white on white crepe paper that are then aligned and glued together on floral wire. The stamens are made using wire, glue, and pan pastel paints. The interior of the petals are lightly hand dusted with high quality pan pastel paint.

All proceeds (after cost) are donated to Genny's Hope Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit blood cancer organization (reference https://www.facebook.com/GennysHopeFoundation). The funds raised by the Fiber Florist at Boho Bouquet helps Genny's Hope to achieve its family and patient outreach goals.
