This listing is for five (5) buying American Encaustic Tile Company (AET Co.) tile from the early 1900s. Four tiles is 6” wide x 3” tall. The fifth piece is 3” square. The pattern features a bold stylized yellow design surrounded by a rich deep brown.

Encaustic tiles of this nature were typically used as accents on fireplace surrounds but could also be found in kitchens or bathrooms. The 10 tiles available are all in great conduction for their age but do have some small glazing cracks.
