ALL proceeds of this print are going towards helping a friend of mine and other members of his kind and caring community from the beautiful mountain region of Afghanistan get to safety and rebuild lives for themselves.

Over the past few months i have been doing everything i can to try and rescue a good friend of mine…

He's a 23 year old boy, a truly beautiful human full of warmth, love, kindness and positivity and is now trapped in Afghanistan absolutely terrified and facing death and persecution on a daily basis.
About a year ago we made friends after chatting on “Facebook ski club”…. Just like so many of us he is crazy about skiing!!!

I was instantly so impressed with this kind, hardworking and articulate boy and his passion for travel and sport (especially skiing). He has worked very hard to improve himself and studied English in college. I always enjoyed our chats about life in the mountains, how different our resorts are and our shared love of skiing!

Sadly since we became friends and with the situation in Afghanistan he, his mother and sister (as well as so many others) are living an actual nightmare. They are hiding for their lives in the mountains from the Taliban facing death on a daily basis, as well as literally freezing to death in subzero temperatures with little food or hope. The Taliban have already killed his father and he sees friends and neighbours murdered while they run for their lives often spending nights hiding high in the mountain, in the dark with no warmth, food or shelter.

As we sit comfortably on our sofas surrounded by our loved ones we can't even begin to imagine what these people are going through, their daily struggle to survive and their challenge to hold on to hope that some how they will escape with their lives to a better place where they can imagine a future.

They are religious minorities (Hazara) making them the most vulnerable of people.

Finally after months of sending emails to anyone who could possibly help them we have now found a sports charity who are evacuating people with links to the sports community in Afghanistan. Fortunately my friend has this through his skiing and his sister as part of a professional cycling team so looks like they be added to an evacuation list! Now we need to raise money to help them get on the evacuation flights out and then build new lives for themselves.

Already one of his friends an 18 year old girl and Afghan ski champion has been evacuated on a humanitarian plane. She is now alone (her parents are still stuck in Afghanistan) in a refuge camp in Italy and needs to find a new place to build a future for herself. I can't think of anywhere better for her to come and rebuild a life for herself than buying in Tignes when i live in the french mountains where she can join a kind and caring community and continue to enjoy and develop her talent as a skier.

We have started a Just Giving page to raise money to help these people al i will be donating all proceeds from the sale of this print to that. The first thing we need to pay for is an apartment for this girl to get her out of the refuge camp and to support her while she gets on her feet.
