I was inspired to make these "log vases" from seeing how another turner made a vase from a fence post. I had also seen bud vases made from limbs, but the makers only turned the neck, not the complete vase.

So when a cedar tree fell on our property, I had the right sized material to give them a try. The vase is finished with many coats of spray lacquer. I don't part off the vase from the limb, leaving the great looking contrast between the finished vase and the rough bark. A grouping of these vases make a great centerpiece. Or place a single one on your mantle or side table.

Overall dimensions 10" tall by 5" wide. Dimensions of the vase itself are 6"x3". Included is a tube insert that can be filled with water if you choose to use cut flowers. #36
