Understanding Modern Art, Copyright 1936, Printed in the United States reprints edition 1940. 3-volume set, by The Delphian Society. An interpretation of the historical, psychological, philosophical, and scientific backgrounds of modern art. Leather-like buying textured grey hardcover books with Gold Gilt lettering and designs. As the volumes go up the grey gets a bit deeper in color which is intentional by the publisher. Books are internally very clean with tanning of the pages. No pages bent in half or missing pages. Outside of the book has minimal wearing along the edges. Nice set of books with lots of information and great images.
The Delphian Society was a national organization that promoted the education of women in the United States founded in 1910.
