TALE OF TWO CITIES and Great Expectations in one book by Charles Dickens. Published buying by Porter and Coates, Philadelphia around 1900 (n.d.). Condition is poor to fair. Cover is splitting near the upper spine at the cover. Book is shaken and cover is pulling away from the interior book. There is a slice in the spine that may have been repaired. Significant wear to lower spine. Endpapers are dark brown with a cracked hinge and threading visible. Book is fragile. Interior pages from endpapers through pg 1 are loose or hanging on by a thread. Interior pages are white and clean, but moderately tanned. One soiling spot on an interior page. 504pgs, 7 3/4 x 5 1/8"
A WONDER BOOK by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Published by Henry Altemus Co, Philadephia around 1900 (n.d.). Condition is Fair+. Burgundy cloth cover is darkened with green and gold decoration. Gilt on cover is faded. Decoration on the spine is faded with moderate shelf wear on the upper and lower spine. White endpapers have a signature of a former owner. Hinges are cracked with threading visible. Pre-title page is decorated with color (pictured). Interior pages are soft, white and well intact with occasional foxing spot. 236pgs, 6 1/4 x 4 1/2"
LORNA DOONE by R.D. Blackmore. Published by the International Book Company, NY. Brown cloth cover in Columbus Series edition. Gilt present on the spine with moderate shelf wear to the lower spine. Endpapers are tanned with red printed advertising. The hinge is cracked at the title page with threading visible. Interior pages are soft and well intact with heavy tanning. 479pgs, 7 1/2 x 5"
