This one-of-a-kind wooden cookie mold was hand carved and finished with a food grade coating. This mold features the likeness of a Great Pyrenees dog protecting a lamb. The cavity (size of the cookies) measures 5 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" high x 1/4" deep. The entire mold measures approximately 6" wide x 5" high x 1" thick. Use this mold to form limitless amounts of Great Pyrenees cookies for friends and family. When not in use, this mold makes a nice sculptural decorative piece. DO NOT PLACE THIS MOLD IN THE OVEN.

USE AND CARE OF CARVED WOODEN COOKIE MOLD

Thank you for purchasing the hand carved American Cherry Wood cookie mold. If you have never used a wooden cookie mold before, you will probably need a few trial practice runs before you start to get the hang of it but, in time, you will be a pro.

This mold has multiple coatings of a food grade finish applied – just like salad bowls or cutting boards. I recommend lightly re-coating once or twice a year or more often depending on how often you use the mold. Just be sure to use a food grade finish. It can be found in hardware stores or online.

When you start to use your cookie mold, spray or wipe a very light coating of cooking oil inside the cavity and then sprinkle on some flour, then dump out the excess flour. After making the first cookie, you will not need to use the oil inside the cavity each time but you should always sprinkle then dump flour before adding cookie dough.

Not all cookie doughs work well in cookie molds so you might have to experiment. The best ones are doughs which are dense and have been refrigerated over night.

Take pieces of dough and place into the mold cavity until it is fully “loaded”. Then with a heavy rolling pin roll the dough flat. This will make sure all the areas of the mold cavity are filled with dough. If the mold moves around too much on your counter, place a damp cloth or towel under the mold to stabilize it.

Run a long knife (such as a bread knife) flat against the mold from top to bottom and remove all the excess dough, leaving only the dough in the cavity.

Next, be buying brave and hold the mold at an angle and give some hearty taps on the counter. It might take a few taps before you see the dough begin to release. Practice will be needed before you get the hang of it but you will see the dough release and, holding your hand underneath the cavity, you can catch the dough and place it on a cookie sheet for baking.

Depending on the dough and/or how long it takes you to make each dog shape, it is sometimes a good idea to place the cookie sheet in a refrigerator after each dog shape placement. Cold dough will help assure the best detailed dogs when baked.

Your mold should be cleaned after use. Do not place it in a dish washer. The mold can be washed with water but don't soak it. Be sure to dry it completely before putting it away.

NEVER PLACE MOLD IN AN OVEN.
