Beautiful mid 19th century cotton textile with elegant large scale floral motif, dating 1860 or so. Beautiful picotage or "pinning" detail added by using wooden blocks with various size brass pins to create subtle background texture, shadow and color. Wonderful Burgundy dye color created from the root of the madder plant, with lighter brown shades and red. Charming hand sewn ruffle on one side. Would make a lovely small curtain or wonderful to repurpose ruffle to make pillow. Beautiful fabric for many other sewing or craft projects! Light to medium weight cotton.
Condition: Lovely antique condition. A few very small holes at top see last photo. Carefully hand washed and ready to use. Please see photos and use zoom for additional detail .
Measuring approximately 27.5" X 39" with 3+" ruffle
Appropriate for many projects including light upholstery, clothing, pillows, cushions, curtains, doll clothes, dolls, crafting, quilting, lampshades & more!
Item# 6218
I do my best to accurately describe condition and point out major flaws, but condition is seldom perfect as one would expect from a 100 year old textile. Small marks and flaws should be expected. The timeworn look and signs of their unique history is part of what makes them buying so charming and special!
