The Welles-Shipman-Ward House #972
This house was built in 1755 and is located on Main Street in South Glastonbury. It was built by the shipbuilder, Col. Thomas Welles for his son John and his wife Jerusha. It was later sold to creditors Stephen Shipman Jr & Nathaniel Talcott Jr. Shipman eventually bought the entire property and his family lived there for over a century. Berdena Hart Ward bought it in 1925 who restored it and gave it the Historical Society of Glastonbury in 1962.
