My father, Arthur Jacobson (1924 - 2010), was a noted artist and professor (Arizona State University) with a long career and I have his estate of artworks which includes these small watercolor "sketches" of landscapes, bookstores, fabric stores and other colorful places that caught his eye.
He handled watercolor in a spontaneous buying and lively way, capturing the clarity and vibrancy of the colors and the essence of the subject rather than the specific details. He loved active lines and shapes.
This one is an original artwork called "Landscape Hopi" (the beautiful landscape of the Hopi Reservation northeast of Phoenix) and is watercolor and charcoal on watercolor paper, made in 1983, 10"w x 6.25 "h. One of a kind, signed, dated and titled by him on the front bottom in pencil.
