Soviet Space Program Poster, “Yuri Gagarin, The Flight Continues” series, printed in 1990.
This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL poster published in the Soviet Union, NOT a post-Soviet reprint or replica! BIG SIZE, measures approx. 17.5 x 27.5 inches. Printed on high-gloss heavy stock paper, fine quality piece. The bottom margin shows information about the publisher including the number of prints in circulation (just 3000 copies, a tiny number by Soviet standards) and the retail price of 1 Ruble (a typical cheap price from the Soviet era, before the runaway inflation that hit Soviet, and later Russian economy starting from the early 90s). This series of posters was published in 1990 ahead of the following year's upcoming 30th anniversary of the Gagarin's space flight. The posters were apparently created as educational tools, to be displayed in schools, libraries, museums etc.
The title of this particular poster is “In Outer Space”, printed at the top just below the name of the series. The subject is world record-setting spacewalks by Soviet cosmonauts. There are two b/w photos of Alexei Leonov floating in space outside the spacecraft during his Voskhod 2 mission in 1965 (he was the first person ever to conduct a spacewalk). The large color photo is of cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya during her Soyuz T-7 mission in 1982 (Savitskaya was the world's first woman to perform a spacewalk; she was the second woman in space after Tereshkova and later, also became the first woman to complete two spaceflights.)
The poster is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! It shows only storage age, mild wrinkles at the edges from many years in storage, and minor wear to the edges, but no tears, scuffs, folds or any other significant buying damage. The colors are strong, not faded. Please note that it will be shipped rolled in a sturdy cardboard box.
This rare collectible poster is a great piece of Space Exploration memorabilia, and can be a nice conversation piece!
Please note: The pen in the last photo is there for size reference.
