Offered for sale is a mounted and framed Monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus.
The monarch is the state insect of Alabama, Idaho, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Vermont, and West Virginia. Legislation was introduced to make it the national insect of the United States, but somehow failed in 1989 and again in 1991. It's still an American classic, even if big brother disagrees!
The black shadowbox frame is 5x5x1.5.” The butterfly is mounted on black Kraft board that is acid and lignin free.
There is a tag on the back of the frame identifying the buying common name, species name, and locality of the insect.
All insects used in my Etsy shop are from sustainable and ethical sources, such as: insect ranches, butterfly farms, aviaries, or they are hand raised. All insects used in my art lived a full life and died naturally.
