Vintage Mayan Guatemalan Huipil with hand embroidery.

Exquisite, Colorful Design! Circa 1980's , owning a Huipil is an amazing way to own a genuine piece of Mayan history.

Hand woven on a backstrap loom and hand embroidered, this piece is in good used condition.

Stunningly vibrant colours, heavily embroidered

From Quetzaltenango an indigenous village high in the northern highlands of Guatemala

Hand woven multi coloured base cloth with complimentary coloured embroidery

Also would make an amazing table buying centrepiece opened, with a candle or flowers in the middle or displayed on the wall, a real conversation piece

Measures

28 inches across the shoulder

22 inches from shoulder to hem

18 inches from middle of neck to hem

Please bear in mind that this item is around 35 years old, so do not expect brand new and perfect, this is an historic, but still wearable item

Fabric stretching, fading, loose threads and light soiling are not to be considered a defect, but rather a testament to its long hard life, but any obvious faults are mentioned and photographed

Hand washable in cold water

Shipping costs

Please note that shipping costs are not inflated.
It is expensive to ship from here in Guatemala.

Some sellers offer free or reduced shipping simply by inflating the cost of the item being shipped. I do not.

I believe in offering beautiful, worn , vintage pieces at the cheapest rate possible, whilst paying the ladies selling them, a good and fair price.

I strongly believe in fair trade practices and when traveling to many of the isolated villages, my friend Ingrid Aracely Pocon , who is cackchiquel Mayan travels with me, to interact with the ladies selling their garments in their native tongues ensuring a fair price.

Quite often it is possible to ship more than one item for the lowest price from the shipping company. Please ask and I will be happy to help,
