ABOUT SORUKA:
Our one-of-a-kind handcrafted environmentally friendly leather bags and wallets are made by our artisans using scraps of leather which would otherwise go to waste and end up in a landfill. Our mission is to create beautiful and colorful timeless collections while using high quality leather and preserving traditional techniques, supporting the sustainable fashion and the fair trade movement.
All our bags are made with integrity and kindness by artisans using traditional craftsmanship. The crafting process involves little to no machinery, keeping the energy consumption low. All our bags are made in India by small, independent artisans from rural communities, which we work closely to help grow their business and production capabilities. All our artisans receive fair trade wages and the partnership with them is the best method of job creation in low income environments and also a way to preserve generational craftsmanship. The economic empowerment gives them the opportunity to stay in their villages, supporting their family, and they will be less likely to migrate to urban areas.
