A leaping Appaloosa, an iconic image of the American Southwest, is represented in this freestanding sculpture. He is welded to a sturdy steel base, while his forelegs dance in the air as he frolics. Handmade by noted artist Robért Shashinda (Ironbearmarine). By itself or grouped with other equine sculptures by Ironbearmarine, it speaks of the joy of a horse running free across the plains.

Made of plate steel with a monochromatic acrylic buying brushstroke finish in shades of black, white, and gray.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The current imagery and art of Robért Shashinda is rooted in his decades-long interest the symbology of pectoglyphs, pictographs, and geoglyphs of the ancient peoples from different areas of the world. Robért does not copy these images, but instead relies on them as inspiration for his renderings of the natural world and the spiritual world, between which, for many, there is no separation.

This rustic, free-form interpretation is part of the “Critters” opus. These works are inspired by the creatures that surround the artist's home and his memories of the archeological sites of the Southwest. The artworks include orcas, humpback whales, crows, ravens, elk, and octopus.
