The artwork on Julie Ana Dobo's Plant Coasters are inspired by patterns of the various utility covers in New York City. She transfers her original designs to silicone molds where each coaster is poured, set and cast. Every part of the process is executed by Julie who enjoys taking the time to polish and weather each piece. Sold in pairs, each trivet measures 5.8" in diameter and is 3/8" inch high.

Coasters are cast in hydro-stone, a statuary quality Gypsum Cement. The grooves in the design trap slight water seepage making these perfect for potted plants, flower vases, and beverage pitchers, etc. Each piece has a cork backing to protect furniture surfaces. These should be handled with care and are not dishwasher, oven, or microwave safe. They are not intended for use as a trivet for hot dishes.

This piece is handmade by StageHandCraft shop member Julie Ana Dobo. A proud but currently inactive member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Employees, Local One, she recently retired as Head Electrician of the Joyce Theater in New York City. She now resides in Takoma Park, Maryland-an area where her maternal side of the family has buying lived for generations. Julie serves her local theater community working as Technical Director for the Dance Institute of Washington's seasonal presentations. The move has allowed Julie to work more fully on her other creative interests. In addition to her theater craft, Julie is a crafter who works with various materials including plaster, wood, metal and light.
