Nippon Moriage Creamer Marked buying M in Wreath Hand Painted Gold Golden Handle Japan Landscape Scene Antique Vintage Collectors
There are quite a lot of reproduction Nippon pieces out.
There are quite a lot of reproduction Nippon pieces out there. I have spent time researching, sharing images, and consulting with others, and I believe this one to be genuine. However, I am not an expert, and ask you to please review all photos to determine authenticity so that you can be confident before you purchase.
It does have the buying Nippon mark of the letter M inside a wreath which originated around 1911. However, this same mark was used on reproductions.
The gold detailing on the rim and handle are the biggest indicator to me that this creamer is genuine. Later reproductions usually have a brighter yellow gold on them, while older, genuine pieces are a darker gold with a bronze undertone.
It features a serene, hand painted landscape scene and lovely moriage detailing. It is in good condition for the age. There is a very small chip, or spot of flaked paint, on the upper rim as pictured. Please view all photos for details.
This piece measures approximately 2.75 inches high to the tip of the spout, and 3.25 inches wide across the base.
