Have you ever felt completely broken? shattered? Lost and lonely? or just completely empty? So many of us struggle with our mental health and see this as a crutch. Society has stigmatized mental health and pushed it aside for so long. Making people afraid to come forward. This painting was inspired by my own struggles, my own feelings of disrepair, times of feeling completely and utterly empty, and other times of just feeling nothing at all. I wanted to encapsulate everything into something beautiful. Because we can still be broken and yet be beautiful. We buying are stronger than we think and just have to remember that no matter what illness plagues us we are still fighting. That my friend is nothing to be ashamed of, that is bravery at it's finest. "oh my darling it's true beautiful things have dents and scratches too" was the best way I could articulate this into words. I hope you enjoy.
** please note due to safety issues this does not actually have broken glass or mirror on it. This is plexi glass (plastic) that I broke and painted with a mirror finish to look like a mirror. But is not a real mirror. I did this for everyone's safety.
