This is a lovely Iraqi-made silver and niello brooch. Although unmarked, the workmanship is typical of the marsh Arabs of Southern Iraq. Highly skilled, their jewellery found its way through to Europe via British Service Personnel stationed in Iraq between the 1920's and 1940's. Between the camels are depicted the ruins of Ctesiphon, one of the great cities of ancient Mesopotamia.
Measurements: 58 x 7 mm. Weighs 6.5 g.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. C clasp works well although applied up-side-down! A small ding on the top edge, not noticeable from the front edge.
All postage is tracked. I offer a no-quibble refund if it isn't quite what you wanted! I combine postage wherever possible.
