Historical Cufflinks
WWI, First World War (1914-18), French Artillery buttons Commemorative Cufflinks
These are a beautiful pair of cufflinks made with genuine French Army Artillery buttons from the era of the First World War, over 105 years ago. This pair of cufflinks are made from two brass French Artillery (Artillerie) buttons. During the First World War the French were famous for their ‘horizon-blue' uniforms, coining buying the term ‘Le bleuet' for both the new conscripts' (with their bright new uniforms) and the cornflowers used to commemorate the war. The cufflinks are made with a swivel back with an attractive diamond pattern on the swivel. They are made using smaller heavily domed cuff or epaulette buttons, perfect in size for small cufflinks and are 16 mm in diameter.
They represent a unique part of United States and First World War history. The brass buttons have been very carefully cleaned to retain the original character of the buttons whilst highlighting the beautiful brass details of these original, more than 105 year-old buttons.
This is a truly unique gift and a chance to own a small piece of history lovingly restored and made into a beautiful pair of cufflinks. They are presented in a luxury wooden cufflink box and cardboard cover to make them the perfect present to commemorate the First World War.
