Product code: Copper and sterling buying hand fabricated earrings
These showy copper earrings were made of sheet copper and sterling silver.
The copper discs were annealed and hammered with traditional Navajo made stamps. The teardrop shapes were formed first, then the perimeter stamping. The silver centre points were made of scrap silver, made molten with a torch. The excessive heat makes the silver form into a ball which, when cooled, is then hammered into a shot plate buying to get the decorative pattern you see here.
I've used the two piece repoussé stamp to make a separate element to solder to the sterling ear wire.
