Ikebana (生け花, "living flowers") is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, also known as kadō (華道, the "way of flowers"). A collection of hand-crafted ceramic Ikebana vases and stands were passed down buying to me by my late father, and as the burden of possessing them looms larger, I am looking to relinquish the pieces. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Father to the Fatherless International organization, who reach out to the homeless and victimized in Uganda to provide brighter futures.
These works were forged originally in the 70's and imported to the United States towards the end of the decade, and are cast in a heavy ceramic finish with a finishes varying from high gloss to matte (depending of course on the piece). For contemporary use, this piece can be made a part of home decor, or the traditional use of flower arrangement is possible with the appropriate tools and know-how.
This piece is an Oval shape painted with a "Dandelion Yellow" gloss finish.
