This book was printed in 1854. It is a hard cover with front cover decoration in gold. It is a compilation of comic stories from Punch Magazine. Original illustrations by J M'Clenan. Published by Stringer and Townsend,, New York. First Edition.
Size: 572 pages. 7 1/2 x 5 inches by about 1 1/4 inch thick.
The Frontis and illustrated title page has tissue guard.
Condition: Fading of cover with stamped borders around a gilt filled decoration of Punch reading a book. The Gilt is very good.
There is scattered foxing/spotting throughout. All the pages are sewn tight. No lost pages. There are several pages with small corner tears but no print missing. The cover is worn off on lower spine (ie the spine foot) as shown in picture
The only writing we see is on the title page, at very top, penned in neat attractive script, " No 1725. J. P. Brace" (that is how we read it). See photo.
