This one of a kind fused glass piece was handcrafted with love by me, buying Alison Slaff Carl, in my home studio in New Jersey.
What is fused glass? Glass fusing is a form of glass art where different pieces of glass are melted together (fused) at high heat in a glass kiln. In my fused glass art I hand cut each piece using a scoring tool, running pliers, and a grozer tool. Once I have completed my design, the piece is moved to my kiln where it will stay for the next 12-14 hours to heat and cool slowly, reaching a max temperature of around 1500 degrees Fahrenheit! After firing, I will file down any sharp burrs that may have result in the firing process.
