A set of 6 beautiful blue and white ironstone transferware dinner plates, dating from the 1900's. In a highly collectable design "Watteau", by the French porcelain manufacturer "Sarreguemines". They are all in the same design, from the same series with birds and flowers, a stunning deep navy blue color.
The design itself is really quite unusual, with delicate flowers and birds with patterned details around the rims and edges.
The ironstone has an antique appearance throughout, which just oozes authentic shabby chic, and the quality of the glaze authenticates the true age of the pieces, which have gentle crazing and cream tea tones pushing through the blue.
Stunning pattern in superb condition throughout, remarkable for their age. Some minor surface scratches from knife use buying. They are totally intact, with no chips, cracks or nibbles. (I can also include a 7th plate for free if you would like, which has a small surface scratch).
Genuinely old, as you can tell from the quality of the glaze, and transfer which are irregular in their opacity and repeat, unlike modern reproductions.
Would look great either used as a display piece, even used on a daily basis.
ATTENTION : These items should never be placed in the dishwasher. Antique ironstone and transferware should always be washed by hand.
