Swaine & Co. was founded in 1854, then in 1920, merged with Gebrüder Schoenau Co. (founded as Greiner und Künzel, in 1817) to become Porzellanfabrik Gebrüder Schoenau, Swaine & Co. o.H.G. with nine kilns producing porcelain, electrical engineering, utility and luxury tableware. After around 1930 they ceased producing domestic wares and were only involved in industrial ceramics, in both factories. In buying 1953, the company was nationalised and renamed VEB Sonneberg Porzellanfabrik. Closed ca. 1990.
Marked with the Crossed Pipes, Capital D, and Germany. This lovely pitcher has tranquil Dutch Scene of sailing Fluyt's, Windmills and a Church, all in shades of blue and white. The Handle is decorated with flowers. HAND CRAFTED AND HAND PAINTED
This fine porcelain is rare and hard to find. Marked on the bottom, with Crossed Pipes over Capital D, Delft Germany. This is the Swaine mark. This piece is free from chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. In Excellent Condition. Please review all pictures for condition and size and shape.
