The translation from the German language is "Explanation for Mr. Caspar Schwenckfeld, and the additions to his teaching, because of many pieces, both from history and theology; To bring to light for the service of all sincere inquirers and lovers of the truth, intended and written by buying some of the former godly emigrants from Silesia to Pennsylvania in North America."

This book measures 4 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches and has 507 pages.(there is a numbering error at the end of this book. Page number 505 is skipped so the last numbered page is listed as 507 and then there are two unnumbered pages. It is rated as VERY GOOD as the covers are almost without wear or aging HOWEVER THIS BOOK WAS MADE WITH PAPER FROM 3 BATCHES , 2 OF WHICH ALLOWED FOXING to occur (rust colored splotches from iron that got absorbed into the paper from the paper making machinery). I found another copy of this book also from 1830 that lists the same early and late pages with this same flaw which confirms my theory of the 3 paper batches or sources that led to this foxing. The photos I took will show this foxing. Otherwise the interior of this book is without flaws except for a previous owners name in pencil.

Frontispiece portrait of Schwenckfeld; Full calf with 5 compartments between gilt rules, with green leather label. Gilt lettering and compartment demarcations. Looks almost unused in very fine condition. Shows heavy foxing from frontispiece (portrait of Caspar Schwenckfelt(d), title page and on through XIV. Then the pages are free of foxing from page 1-360 then the foxing begins and runs through the remainder of the book. Pages 449-480 contains "Anhang zur Erläuterung, Caspar Schwenckfelds Lebenslauf, und Reise-Beschreibung der schlesischen Auswanderer, von Altenau bis Pennsylvanien. Desgleichen ein Sende-Schreiben aus Nord-Amerika an die unpartheyischen Brüder und Freunde in Schlesien" (translation is ""Appendix for explanation, Caspar Schwenckfeld's curriculum vitae, and description of the journey of the Silesian emigrants, from Altenau to Pennsylvania. Also a letter from North America to the impartial brothers and friends in Silesia"

Caspar (or Kaspar) Schwen(c)kfeld von Ossig (About this soundlisten (help·info)) (1489 or 1490 – 10 December 1561) was a German theologian, writer, physician, naturalist, and preacher who became a Protestant Reformer and spiritualist. He was one of the earliest promoters of the Protestant Reformation.

Schwenckfeld did not organize a separate church during his lifetime, but followers seemed to gather around his writings and sermons. In 1700 there were about 1,500 of them in Lower Silesia. These followers became known as Schwenkfelders. A group arrived in Philadelphia in 1731, followed by five more migrations up to 1737. In 1782, the Society of Schwenkfelders was formed, and in 1909 the Schwenkfelder Church was organized. The Schwenkfelder Church has remained small, and currently there are five churches with about 3,000 members in southeastern Pennsylvania. All of these bodies are within a fifty-mile radius of Philadelphia.

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is a small museum, library and archives in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania. It is the only institution dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the Schwenkfelder story, including Caspar Schwenckfeld, the Radical Reformation, religious toleration, the Schwenkfelders in Europe and America, and the Schwenkfelder Church. The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center has exhibits and programs throughout the year.
