Natural Gourd Rattle, buying Shekere, Wooden Beaded Musical Instrument Shaker, Percussion, Drum Circle, Hand Strung, Gift for Him, Hippie

This rattle was made from a natural hard shell gourd. I used wooden beads in earthy shades and sienna string. The beaded netting was created by hand one bead at a time. It's a labor of love!

I painted a gold abstract dandelion seed pattern around the handle. The rest of the gourd was left in it's original state. You can see some organic markings here and there that give the piece a natural feel. The shell has been protected with a shiny clear coat.

This piece measures about 9" tall , by 4" wide at the widest point.

This rattle is nice and portable (good for taking to drum circles etc.), and it also makes a fun display piece. Shake it like a maraca, tap it like a tambourine, or put it on your coffee table to start conversations. There is a little play in buying the netting. You can adjust the way the rattle sounds by twisting the strings on the bottom at the knot. The more you twist, the more you can mute the sound.
