This North Atlantic Seagull is mounted on a metal stand decorated with authentic shells from the New Hampshire coast! The bird is a solid need felt made from wool roving. The process of needle felting involves poking wool roving with a barbed needle which interlocks the fibers allowing for sculpting. It takes many hours to create a wool figure..but these one of a kind figures are certainly worth the effort!
This particular bird is rather large. I have included photos using a ruler as well as one showing it on my mantle to help illustrate its size. It is solid wool. I made the beak using air dry clay which I buying painted then varnished. The gull's body does include some interspersed beading and a piece of deep grey lace as accent.
Please note: this is not a toy. It is not intended for children. It is a piece of fiber art to be used as home decor.
