ABOUT: COALPORT
-----------------
John Rose founded the original Coalport factory in1795, in a city of that name in Shropshire, England. They expanded and acquired other potteries as a result of their success in the early 19th century. Rose and his firm garnered acclaim for their technical improvements in manufacturing and leadless glazing.
The company further enhanced its reputation at the Great Exhibition of London in 1851. There Coalport displayed an elaborate table service commissioned by Queen Victoria as a gift to Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. Despite this, the company sometimes struggled with its finances, going into receivership in 1875. The company reopened under the name “Coalport China Company” and eventually greatly developed its export trade in the 1890s.
In 1967 the Wedgwood Group purchased Coalport China and it ceased all production under the Coalport name.
Despite its closure, Coalport China has maintained its reputation for having crafted elegant china. Their bone china dinnerware continues to grace dining tables in homes around the world.

A NOTE ABOUT BUYING VINTAGE:
-----------------
Most vintage/antique items will have minor wear due to their age and or years of service, which I believe adds to the charm and patina of these items. So you can expect that there will often be small condition issues, which I do my best to accurately disclose and photograph in the listing.
But while I try hard to describe our items accurately, I am not an expert and it is possible that a true collector might see something that I do not.
If you are particular about your vintage items, please ask questions before you buy. I want you to love your item as much as I do.
