Suë & Mare - 2 'Chevrons' Egg cups- Art Deco design for buying Gallia Christofle

Very elegant Art Deco egg cups, designed by SÜE and MARE, for GALLIA Christofle around 1925.
The refined 'Chevrons' design is a fine example of Art Deco design, inspired by cubism.

Condition is very good, little wear from use and cleaning, silver plating is intact and shining. Inside of one of the cups the plating is a little rough (photo 8).
Measurements: 4.8 cm Wide x 5.4 cm High. Weight 125 g for the two.
Hallmarks and markings: Orfevrerie Gallia hallmark with rooster on the first and a square hallmark with balance and CC for Christofle plus the lettering "O.GALLIA" on the second.

SÜE and MARE
LOUIS SÜE (1875-1968) & ANDRÉ MARE (1887-1932) were able to shape trends in the shift from Art Nouveau to Art Deco and beyond. Their designs, inspired by Cubism, excited the Paris Salon of the time buying and remain relevant even today. Working primarily as decorators and furniture designers, their art had to be based on an alliance between the fine arts and the decorative arts.
Today, their designs are exhibited in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs du LOUVRE in Paris.
