Here's a beautifully curated collection of works by John Sloan. With accompanying introduction by Sloan. Included are both his prose and his artwork.

The book includes mostly black and white examples of his artwork.

Sloan offers his insights on painting and being a painter.

"Many people think of the buying artist as a recluse. I think that an artist is a spectator . . "
"The artist must get a kick out of . . nature before he can create."

Published in 1945, it's a small volume, measuring 6.25 by 4. And very hard to find.

This edition is a hardcover book. The outside shows some very slight wear. The inside is in excellent vintage condition.

This would make an great gift for the lover of John Sloan.
