Product code: Georgian pocket fruit knife with organic buying scales 1798 - 1813
This is an unusual pocket fruit knife as almost all from this period had mother-of-pearl scales. This example has scales of a creamy white organic material mounted to brass liners with ribbed “Barlow” style bolsters and a silver back bar with gadrooned pattern. The spearpoint blade has two hallmarks: the tricuspid King George III head duty mark and the lion passant. Judging by the style of the gadrooned back bar I would say the knife is from about 1800. It is in buying superb condition and even retains a snap! Stock ref. 21465
