Product code: 19th Century Ribbon Work Case Ombré Ribbon Embroidery Flowers Roses Black Silk Metallic Gold Thread buying Antique Boudoir Textile Collectable

An exquisite 19th-century boudior case.
The padded silk outer has been intricately decorated with a beautiful flower basket. The back of the case is plain.
The basket has been embroidered using metallic thread and green silks have been used for the bow and handle.
Filled with dainty ribbonwork roses, ombré buds, daisies and trailing foliage, finished with green chenille.
The case opens to reveal two pockets, lined with golden yellow coloured corded silk.
The top pocket has been installed N A using more shimmery gold thread filled with the tiniest, sweetest French knots. The initials have been finished with lots of pretty ribbon work daisies and further silk embroidery.
The edges have been trimmed with twisted cord.
A wonderful example of silks, perfect for a collector.

Measurements:
23.5 x 16cm when closed.

Condition:
A beautiful textile, not perfect and showing its age with some areas of damage, which has been reflected in the pricing. To the inside and the back, the silk is mostly dark green with blackened edges. The front appears black. The cord has come away at the bottom edge which buying could be re-stitched if you wish to do so. There are areas of splits to the silk, most notably to the front top close to the bow. There are a few other splits and tiny holes elsewhere, a couple of which reveal the padding/kapok. Inside, the lining has two larger splits that reveal the kapok and a few other tiny holes.
