This sweet little creamer is in an unusual style—it has a double spout. It was made by Royal Bayreuth, a German company founded in 1794. The backstamp on this piece dates it most likely between 1902-1919.
The scene on the creamer is of a young woman planting grain with chickens or roosters in the foreground. This sort of romanticized pastoral image was in fashion buying during the time before the first World War. This piece is now quite rare.
The creamer is small—it is just shy of 3 inches tall and about 2 ½ inches in diameter. Though there is a little fading of the gilding around the spout, it is in otherwise fantastic vintage condition, without chips, cracks, or crazing. There is a little glaze dot on the interior of the spout, present from manufacture.
Royal Bayreuth items are particularly collectible (see royalbayreuth.org), and this unusual piece would be a fabulous gift for a collector. It could also add some charm and character to a daily coffee or tea ritual.
