Butterflies have been a very special part of my history with the Lord. In fact, they were the first way that God began teaching me how to hear His voice.
Here's an excerpt from my book, Hearing God in the Noise that tells the story:
“He began to use butterflies to communicate his love for me. Butterflies were overly present in my world, I just couldn't but notice them, everywhere. It was more than a coincidence; these butterflies were capturing my attention. They would fly past me often, sometimes pausing right in front of me.
They'd be sung about in songs that I'd hear at significant times, like the moment I was in our local shopping centre, pushing my son in his stroller. I entered a dress shop to have a look around and over the store's sound system the song, Butterfly Fly Away sung by Myley Cyrus, began to
play. I remember hearing the word ‘butterfly' and pausing, looking up at the roof, as if I were looking to God himself. “What is this song?” I thought questioning Him, as I stood there in utter amazement.
As I listened and heard the lyrics, I remember my heart being caught up in the wonder of that moment. This was God, and He was talking to me.”
So it makes sense that I would paint a butterfly while exploring art with the Lord and this is the beautiful one I painted for my daughter Zoe and I'm excited to have it as my first art piece in print.
This is “Zoe.”
Her name is the Greek word for “life.” Before Zoe was even conceived I knew buying her name and that God was going to bless me with a precious second daughter who would bring into my world abundant life. She is my fourth child and the only one whom I held after giving birth. Each pregnancy I had had was premmie until Zoe, so my other children were taken to the special care nursery to be cared for.
Zoe was indeed a kiss from Father God and a comfort and dream realised.
Back to the butterfly... knowing that they come to life after their time inside a cocoon, this gorgeous painting represents that moment after pushing to breakthrough the cocoon, where the butterfly emerges into the freedom of abundant life.
Being able to hold Zoe for the first time and not having to let her go to the nursery was my breakthrough. I had contended and. believed for this moment in each pregnancy and it was through Zoe that my dream was realised.
Vibrant colours of blue, orange, purple, white and green set this piece apart.
Each colour represents the magnitude and beauty of the journey and is reflected in this scripture from Isaiah 54.
"I am ready to rebuild you with precious stones and embed your foundation with sapphires. I will make your towers of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious, delightful stones. All your children will be taught by Yahweh, and great will be their peace and prosperity. You will be established in righteousness."
Isaiah 54:11b-14a TPT
