A quilt full of lovely forest animals I have titled "Woodland Friends". The quilt has 20 - 5 inch squares of fabric to begin the project. The fabrics are in orange, brown, teal, white and green print forest and animal fabrics. I sewed the squares in 4 rows with 5 squares in a row. Next, I added a strip at each end that is 5 inches wide by the length of the 5 squares in a grey/white tonal fabric.
Finally, I added an orange polka dot strip that is 8 inches long by the width of the 5 squares. Then I began to add the 3 strips that would surround the quilt top. First, a 2 1/2 strip of solid brown was added to the quilt top a the way around. Second, I added a strip of brown chevron fabric 2 inches wide, and finally, a 2 inch strip of tan tonal fabric.
The quilt top was now finished. I added the batting and the flannel backing. I use large safety pins to hold all three pieces of the quilt together. I stitched in the ditch, through all the squares and strips using white thread. I bound the quilt using the brown chevron fabric and sewed with brown thread. The quilt is 51 inches long by 32 inches wide.
Now, I put the quilt in my embroidery machine and added the words "Woodland Friends" at the top of the quilt inside the orange polka dot fabric and the grey/white tonal fabric. How cute it turned out.
The quilt can be machine washed and dryed and my tag is sewn on the back of the quilt. I can personalize this project if you wish. 5 words, buying 1 color thread=$10.00 I have only 1 of this type of quilt.
