Articulation D - Encaustic Painting - Abstract - Geometric - Engineering Illustrations - Beeswax Art - Mixed Media buying Art by Rachel Rivas-Plata
This is an original encaustic mixed media painting on a 5.
This buying is an original encaustic mixed media painting on a 5 in. x 7 in. wood panel mounted on an 8 in. x 10 in. cradled wood canvas with a depth of 1 in. ©2019, Rachel Rivas-Plata. "Articulation D." This began as an antique engineering image. I cropped it digitally, encased the print in beeswax and then added texture and metallic pigments.
The copyright information you see on the listing image does not appear on the original work. The canvas is signed on the back, labeled, wired, and ready to hang.
Not only are encaustic works beautiful to look at, they have wonderful texture as well as a faint, sweet scent. The components I usually use are all biodegradable. There are many variations of encaustic wax paintings. I heat high quality refined beeswax medium made with dammar resin (tree sap) and layer it on wood, chip board, or paper. Each layer must be fused together and I do this with a heat gun. I often use watercolor paints, oil paints, and PanPastels to add color and depth. Creating texture is done by using various tools and brushes.
Encaustic works need about the same care as any other fine art paintings. Do not leave them in direct sunlight or close to a heat source.
