Product code: Retro Cocktail Glasses ~ Vintage Set of Libbey 'FLARE COBALT BLUE' Blown Glass buying ~ Perfect Old Fashioned or Whiskey on the Rocks ~ ca 1970s

Beautiful vintage/retro look in dark blue or 'Cobalt Blue' bar glasses, 'Old Fashioned' glasses as named by Libbey. They are the perfect size for your favorite spirit on the rocks, the heft and feel of these late 1970's glasses are a favorite of many and still very much sought after today. The only 'Flare Cobalt Blue' tumblers currently made by Libbey are a tall 17.25 ounce size, making them less than ideal for bar glasses. Comments have noted the new glasses are much thinner and with less heft than the vintage glasses which were made in several sizes and colors originally in the flared style in the 1970's. The glasses offered here are a set of four in the 14 ounce size, they are almost 4.75" in height with the top opening measuring 4" wide, and a thick base 2.5" across. The base of these glasses is a darker blue in color and as the glass flares up to the wide opening the color becomes a lighter blue. Being that these are blown glass they have a very sleek and smooth look and feel, the pontil point on the bottom is almost invisible since these are actually machine blown glass. This process was first developed in America by the Libbey Glass Company and was first used for their tumblers in 1907. This made Libbey Glass the first glass works to combine machine made molded or pressed glasswares along with machine blown glass, such as their early stemware pieces.

The Libbey Glass Company has a long, rich history which can be found on their website at https://libbey.com/history/#top, it's very interesting if you're into the stories behind antiques and vintage wares as I am. Nonetheless these glasses are not to be found new on the Libbey website, so if you are a fan of beautiful retro glassware that will look stunning in your bar or glass front kitchen cabinets you can't go wrong with this set of four I have available here. They are absolutely perfect, no nicks, chips, scratches, or cloudiness can be found on these beauties, I would hazard a guess and say they may have never been used, but obviously I don't know because I acquired them through an estate auction. They are definitely lovely and will add a great retro touch to your kitchen or bar area with this splash of cobalt blue!
