This vintage 70s hat is cozily handsome in dark, heathered gray wool felt.
The shape is the classic stingy brim trillby from prior decades, with a deep teardrop bash at the top. The black velvet band is edged with silvery-white threading, and finished with a sculpted emblem of a knight on a horse. The flexible brim is finished with a rolled and stitched edge, and shapes very nicely if you want to curl up a single edge, front or back, all, or none.

The inner hat band is cloth, a departure from the usual leather or leather-like bands. You can sandwich a thin band of foam between the hat and the band to adjust the grip of the fit.
There is just the faintest hint of pomade when you sniff it (and who does that?), which is not at all unpleasant.
When found, the satin lining was absolutely trashed with stains, so I removed it. It appears to have done its job protecting the hat itself, as there are no issues that I can see, even under inspection. Save for the light scent of Gramps in his Sunday best.
No holes or stains.
