Rumi
Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Rūmī (Persian: جلال‌الدین محمد رومی), (also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Balkhī (جلال‌الدین محمد بلخى), Mevlânâ/Mowlānā (مولانا, "our master"), Mevlevî/Mawlawī (مولوی, "my master")) more popularly known simply as Rumi (30 September 1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, Hanafi faqih, Islamic scholar, Maturidi buying theologian, and Sufi mystic originally from Greater Khorasan in Greater Iran.

Rumi's works are written mostly in Persian, but occasionally he also used Turkish, Arabic and Greek in his verse. His Masnavi (Mathnawi), composed in Konya, is considered one of the greatest poems of the Persian language.

Mathnawi
The most important feature of Mesnevi is that it explains even very deep subjects in a comfortable and understandable way. Mevlana told many subjects as he was born into it by following the voice of his inspiration and caught a fascinating tone. He did not put his thoughts on a long piece of paper and then make any corrections on it. Meanwhile, Mevlânâ is simple; but he brings thought-provoking evidences, especially showing his ability to invent, gives examples, makes what he wants to tell clear, and does not hesitate to tell even ridiculous stories. Already in a ghazal in his Divan; "I say ridiculous things, say ridiculous things, not for fun, not to amuse, but to teach, to cheer the people and tell what I want to tell." says.

Reynold A. Nicholson is one of the foremost scholars of Islamic literature and Islamic mysticism and has had a great influence on Western Islamic scholars. He translated important Sufi and Islamic works from Arabic, Persian and Ottoman to English. Nicholson's masterpiece is Mevlana's Mesnevi, which he translated and published in eight volumes into English between 1925 and 1940. This work had a great impact on those who did research on Mevlana all over the world.
