Vintage 1940s Cow Head Cookie Jar - Promotional Item for Cream O' Weber Dairy
This adorable cookie jar from the 1940s is in very good condition. It was given out as a promotional item to employees by Cream O' Weber Dairy in Weber County, UT, in the 1940s. My grandfather worked for the company as a delivery person and received one of the cookie jars. My mother got it from her father and used it in our house when we were children as well.
The cow head on top (made for a dairy-related business) has no cracks or chips and bright vibrant original paint on its exterior. On the underside of the lid a piece from the has been broken off but it does not affect the lid staying in place as the rest of the inner rim is intact (see photos 7 and 8). The top of the jar itself has some paint chipped off around the border edge, but in overall very good condition - paint on all raised figures and the words are vibrant. There is a small crack in the glaze, with a tiny chip at its beginning, at the bottom of the side with the buying elephant which also runs lightly onto the bottom, but no other damage. It is approximately 9.5 inches tall (with lid) by 6x5x6 for the base
A very rare piece if you collect cookie jars or would make a great gift for a collector!
