Handcrafted Bronze Bracelet, welded with bronze brazing rod, polished and sealed with a super durable/flexible Acrylic Polyurethane so it never tarnishes. Bracelets are made flat and then hammered round and so can be gently bent and adjusted until it fits nearly any wrist.
Initially, we were inspired by the artist welders who made bronze jewelry in Aspen, Colorado in The Brand Building. We were asked to join a friend and start our own shop in Avalon, Catalina Island, where my husband Andy had lived and worked for a number of years. This was in 1975.
Andy and I moved away from Catalina Island after that first summer and we started our own wholesale and retail business, called Larkspur Bronze. We discovered the world of art shows and over all these years traveled in our camper and had two kids we raised and home schooled, as we traveled.
In 2005 Andy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and our business and lives changed dramatically. We spent the last 20 years doing only a few art shows each year (down from 30-35 per year) and discovering other ways to earn a living.
Andy is retired now and I am developing a career as an author and speaker, after working successfully as a massage therapist for decades. If interested see my website michelleterrillheath.com
Creating bronze jewelry is still a beloved part of my life. I have added inspiring words into some of the bracelets and have functional and beautiful designs for hair barrettes. Earrings are showy and lightweight and I love making each piece one at a time with my trusty torch. I have "standardized" certain designs to make this Etsy project work more easily, but each piece is still buying made individually.
Andy had brain surgery in 2013 and got a lot better from the most debilitating Parkinson's symptoms. He is now able to do some jewelry finishing work again.
Our home base and workshop is in a mountain forest between Taos, New Mexico and Taos Ski Valley.
We hope you enjoy our work and our creations.
