This art quilt was created using improvisational piecing as a background and for the flower appliques. The flowers are raw edged, free motion applique using a long arm machine. I used a swirly flower allover design for the background quilting. The piece is 21.5" buying by 21.5" and has plastic rings on the back for hanging. I use small straight pins to hang pieces like this, since they leave very tiny holes in the wall. If you'd prefer I can put a hanging sleeve on the back for a rod.
My favorite flower combination has been purple lilacs and red tulips since I was a very young girl. They happened to grow together in the garden where I grew up. This wall hanging reminds me of the bouquets I used to bring to school for my teachers when I was young. It wasn't so much that I liked the teacher or not. I just liked to see the pretty flowers in the front of the room.
