A plea to our wonderful customers: when you order more than one item, please purchase them one at a time. Otherwise Etsy gets confused about the shipping labels. Thank you!
I, and my brothers and sister, were born and raised in Japan during the 1950s and 1960s; our parents were missionaries. During that buying time we and our mother collected many unique Japanese antiques. My 95-year-old mother, who continued to collect antiques in Japan until my parents' retirement in 1989, is finally giving up some of her treasures.
This vintage Japanese Fukagawa Arita set of porcelain teacups features a very rare persimmon branch pattern. The Fukagawa kiln is near Kurume, on the island of Kyushu, where my parents lived during the decade of the 1950s. It is very likely that my mother purchased this Fukagawa porcelain set during that time. The pattern shows ripe persimmons hanging from an elegant branch that has variegated green leaves. The detail is gorgeous; the colors are not flat but have depth and are lifelike. The teacups measure 3 x 2.5 inches; the total weight is 1 lb 4 oz. I have included an image of the teacups together with their matching teapot, which is a separate listing. The set is in pristine condition.
