Please note the material shown in the example picture of these cuff-links is Nickel Steel. 3d-printed steel has a somewhat rough surface texture, the cast metals (bronze, brass, silver and plated brass) will have a smoother finish. Read below for information on what to expect of the different steel finishes.

--------------------------------------
A NOTE ON STEEL FINISHES
The most affordable material to print these cuff-links in is steel. The 3d-printed steel can be finished in several different colors. Please read the details for each of the finishes carefully before choosing which one suits your needs best. For an example of the different finishes have a look at the last picture in the item description.

Steel
The base material used in my 3D printed items is a mixture of approximately 60% steel and 40% bronze. This is a sturdy material with a slightly rough surface. It functions as the base for all other steel finishes. This material has a slightly yellowish steel color because of the bronze content. Because each print is made separately and the bronze infusion process used in production is susceptible to small fluctuations, the color can vary slightly from one print to another.
As a result of the polishing process there can be small particles of polishing medium (made of crushed walnut husks and corn cob) stuck to the surface of print when they arrive. You can easily remove these particles, which look like small grains of sand, by rattling the print around in a closed Tupperware container for a while, or with a (wire) brush, toothpick, or pin. This is the only material variant that has this issue.

Bronze Steel
The bronze steel finish is applied to the base steel material. It has a dark reddish brown bronze color.

Gold Steel
The gold steel finish is applied to the base steel material. It has a shiny rich gold color.

Nickel Steel
The nickel buying steel finish is applied to the base steel material. It has a uniform light silvery grey color.

Dark Grey Steel
The dark grey steel finish is applied to the base steel material. It has a dark grey color which can vary from charcoal to almost black. Because the amount of polishing can vary there can be a slight variation in color from one batch of dice to another. If you want a lighter result you can easily lighten the color of the item by carefully rubbing it with a (steel) scrubbing pad for a little while. The surface of items with this finish will also become lighter with extended use.
