Leopardskin jasper is also known as ‘Jaguar Stone' and has striking spotted patterns. It is found in Brazil, Mexico and Africa, and is named after the Greek word for spotted stone, jaspi. Leopardskin jasper is formed out of silicon dioxide and at the heart of the spots are foreign matter (inclusions). Crystals form around the foreign matter to create larger spots and repetition across the material makes the leopardskin pattern. Leopard jasper is an ancient gemstone, praised in the Bible and has been linked to shamanistic practises.

These Southwestern style jaguar stone earrings are super eye catching and have attractive circular shaped cabochons. They measure approximately buying 36mm high (drop length) and are 16mm across at their widest point. The black leopardskin effect is very obvious. Each of the silver earrings has an elegant handmade sterling silver fish hook earring wire.
